Many women find that they gain twenty pounds or more during menopause. Those who chalk it up to being okay as it is just a part of a change of life, it is not okay. Weight gain as a result of menopause can lead to many other health risk.

There is the risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, lower back pains, and possible heart problems. You will want to take care of any weight issues quickly as they can be associated with many different life threatening issues. You are one step closer to a healthy lifestyle by just watching what you eat and making healthy choices. Eating right is not the only step, however. You also have to make sure that you get an adequate amount of exercise.

If you’re not used to an active lifestyle, walking, running and swimming are great ways to get your body in motion. You’ll want to add some weight training to your routine once a little time progresses and your body gets used to the exercise. You do not have to bulk up but you will want to burn more fat and add a little lean muscle. There is nothing wrong by being guided from other sources, such as joining a local gym and benefiting from the personal trainers that they have on staff.
