Elderly Brain Loss Increases with Acai Berry According to Studies
Posted by Dr. Jerimiah Crossderd in Diet Plans
In an ground-breaking study that is sure to kick off additional investigation, studies showed that matured laboratory rats that ate a diet overloaded with the acai berry compound pterostilbene and performed superior than those in the collection of animals that did not eat the enriched acai berry diet.
The compound has proved to reverse harmful aging patterns associated with brain functions and behavioral performance.
The study which was broken down into two sections dedicated for scientist in determining if pterostilbene would be an effective compound in the age reversal of mature rats.
The first section of the study dealt with researchers looking at seven different types of compounds where they determined that pterostilbene was the most effective in preventing oxidative stress on the cells.
The second part of the study featured the researchers preparing a diet that would have the following criteria for the mature rats: They would have a controlled diet that either fed them a large dose or small dose of pterostilbene.
The outcome indicates that in aging rats, pterostilbene was successful in turning back cognitive decline and that enhanced operational memory was linked to pterostilbene levels in the hippo campus area of the brain.
The study results are the latest in a series of cell culture and animal model studies in print in the last decade that shed light on the associations linking an assortment of nutritional workings of brain function at the same time as aging.
On top of acai berry, there are additional berry compounds showing parallel potential- this will continue to be examined in further animal and cell studies at a latter time.
There are no governmental standards on how to consume acai berry extracts-Like vitamin C, it should be consumed in small amounts.
The study was published recently in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.

Erin,
I love my dessert rituals - always something to look forward to, and your “weird” tasting black bean burgers sound delicious!
That was quite a sweet package Julz sent you a while back. So many different fun bars that I’ve never seen. The only good bar selection around here is Whole Foods, and I’ve never seen half the bars you’ve been eating there. Nashville needs to catch up on the bar front!
Weekend plans…work, yoga, baby shower. The usual. It’s the year of yoga and babies. Good luck with the thesis, and I hope you don’t OD on the Diet Coke.
Although Rdoc has laid down a decent diet in his post, I personally do not believe in 7 day plans. And Rdoc himself has mentioned that here. What is needed is a lifestyle change. If a diet makes you feel hungry and miserable forget it because you aren’t going to stick to it! I personally manage to keep my weight under control despite my age as I am a voracious eater of fruits and vegetables and do not like fried foods and sweets.
Here's a serious answer. I hope it helps.
*If want to get fit and/or lose weight, here's my Weight Loss Program through Body Building and Nutrition. It works! First, don't Use Diet Pills. They are bad for you. Most of them are just a scam or they are addictive. Counting calories is a pain in the neck. It will drive you nuts. But, losing weight is simple. You just have to do the right things. ?*(If you are older and have not exercised in many years you should see your doctor and have a stress test done to be sure your heart is ok before starting this program. Also, walking eveyday is a good lifelong practice.)
*Fad diets sometimes work but, you can be sure that at least 25% of the weight you lose will be muscle. Then when you stop the diet you will gain back all of the weight you lost but no muscle. So, you will have 25% more fat than you did before! Fad diets just aren't worth the bother. ?*Fasting or skipping meals will teach your body that famine is common in your world and your body will begin to store more fat to get you through the next period when food is not available. It's better to eat healthy foods often to teach your body that food is plentiful and that there is no need to store calories as fat. Eat a vegetablw or frui every two hours.?*Here's a simple trick that can help you lose weight without doing anything else. Drink a litre of water as soon as you wake up in the morning and then drink two more throughout the day. You'll notice a difference the first month. ?*Here's another trick that works. For every pound of muscle that you add, your body will burn 3000 calories (1lb) of fat every day. That means that just by having an extra pound of muscle on your body you will burn a pound of fat every day! So, add muscle! ?*This is the fastest way to add a pound of muscle. Squats and Pushups! You do them on alternate days; squats one day, pushups the next. And you do them SuperSlow style. That is, you do the easy part twice as slow as the hard part. That way you fatigue the muscles quickly. Then you rest the muscles for 48 hours which gives the body a chance to make new muscles.
*Squats should be done with a wide stance and all the way to the floor. Pushups the with palms shoulder width apart and all the way to the floor, then all the way up. Use the full range of motion of the muscle group you are trying to develop. If you are too weak to do pushups, try them with your knees on the floor or do them with your feet on the floor and your hands an the bed.
*The idea is to tire the muscles out completely so do a set of squats until you can't do another, then rest for a couple of minutes and do it again. Do that 3 times and you're done for the day. The following day, don't do squats but do pushups. Do them the same way, going down twice as slow as you come up.
*You will lose weight fast, unless you add more junk food and fat to your diet. Instead, eat at least 5 to 7 different raw vegetables and fruits every day. Cut out anything that comes in a bag, box, can, bottle or any kind of package. In other words, cut out all processed foods, soft drinks and sweets. Eat more grains and less red meat. Check out the Food Pyramid.
*If you really want to give your body the best possible chance to be healthy and fat free, go to infinity2.com and order their weight loss formula and Essentials for Life. That will give you all the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and probiotics that your body needs and will keep you feeling better and healthier. They also have a Proteabolic Mass Formula for serious athletes who want to build muscle mass quickly and safely.
*Weight loss without exercise is not good. You need to eat healthy, exercise and get your rest. You will feel better, look better and be healthier. Try it for a week. You will notice a difference. You will feel better and that will motivate you to continue.
*Losing weight only in specific areas of the body is impossible. You can't just lose weight around the belly, for instance. So, if you want tight, rippled abs, do crunches and leg raises every other day the way I described above.
*One last point, stretching is essential for a number of reasons. Pick up a copy of ''Stretching'' by Bob Anderson. Read the intro and understand his reasoning before you do the exercisis. Good luck!

""I seriously doubt any of our conditions are new, with the exception of those conditions that develop now that people live into their 80s or 90s."Are you really going to make that statement ? I know correlation doesn’t equal causation, but seriously, look at the numbers. Look how many cases of heart disease the Japanese suffered compared to Americans before they starting eating like us. And what does the doctor say? Exercise and "diet" and take these pills that don’t really do anything. So you’re saying that its just an anomaly that heart disease, strokes, and cancers cause 84% of deaths now? There are a lot of special interests in this world we live in, and unfortunately they don’t care about us."My point is that back in the day, heart disease, strokes, and cancers probably accounted for 84% anyway, but we had no way of determining the cause of death with the precision. We all have to die of something. There is nothing wrong with diet and exercise, but most people don’t do enough of it. Back in the day when there was more physical labor, perhaps more people exercised enough. There are pills that will lower cholesterol, blood pressure, etc. They do work as evidenced by the drug trials and science behind them. Is the effect of the drug enough to fix a person’s overall problem? Depends on the situation."Look at how effective cancer treatment is. Look how expensive it is. How often does Chemo and Radiation actually do anything beneficial? Some studies suggest that Chemo is responsible for 2% improved survival rates among patients. How many people do you think would get bypass surgery if it had a 2% chance of improving their condition?"Cancer is complicated. Each cancer is different and responds differently to treatment. Some, like Pancreatic cancer, spread extremely rapidly and are hard to detect. Age plays a factor in recovery and treatment selection. There are billions upon billions poured into cancer research and new things are discovered daily. Cancer treatment, and medical science in general, isn’t static and improvements are constantly being made. And really, what is the alternative to cancer treatment? My wife knew a lady in her early 30s who was into "natural" and developed breast cancer. She used herbs for "treatment", died an agonizing death, leaving behind a husband, and 3 little kids. If she had sought medical treatment, they would have done everything they knew to save her, and they probably would have succeeded. Easy choice compared to a death sentence - if the MDs fail, then you’re no worse off and probably in a lot less pain."Your argument is basically alleviating any blame at all toward MDs that work in the field. That’s fine, I’m not attacking them. I’m attacking the fact that the big Pharmaceuticals basically tell Americans what they need to be healthy, and it is pretty much all bullshit. I don’t mind you sitting there and defending the MDs that do their job ethically, but to sit there and deny the fact that there is some serious problems with the American Health Industry is just negligence."I agree that there are serious problems in the American Health Industry and that the core philosophy needs to change. But, you’re right, I don’t blame the MDs. I don’t blame the nurses, I don’t blame the scientists who develop the drugs. They don’t set the philosophy, the CEOs do. Everything is for-profit - squeeze every last dime and damn the patient. We need much larger focus on preventative care - like these mental health screenings - to diagnose problems before they become larger. We need to make care universally available and universally affordable so no one waits to seek treatment or preventative care. The core philosophy has to change from "as little care as possible" to "all the care that is required." Doctors and patients should be free to work out appropriate treatment plans based on evidence based medicine without interference from money hungry bureaucrats. The NIH is funded by the Federal Government and the typical research lab is at a State University or other Government facility.
Losing weight doesn’t have to involve strange diets or magic diet plans, special exercises or even the ‘magic’ of pills or fitness gadgets. To lose those extra pounds you need to make some changes.

You might be mixing cardio and weightlifting on the same day, which is terrible for toning up and/or gaining mass.
Cardiovascular exercises are catabolic, which burns down muscle and fat for fuel. Notice how long distant runners are skinny.
If you are doing cardio in the middle or after your weightlifting, it will be using your already worn down muscles for fuel, which makes your entire lifting efforts done for nothing and unable to grow.
If you shall do cardio during your workouts, dedicated a day solely to cardio, or do very light cardio before your workouts with minimal effort and exertion.
Personally, I would do no more than a mile at walking speed before my lifts if I must do cardio.
There is awareness regarding weight control or being over weight. With everyone knowing and understanding weight loss there is a urgent desire for the right supplements to help us lose weight fast.
Eat Salad every day. Not to much dressing if you use any.
Jog 15 min. everyday too.
Go to the gym for 30 min every other day.
Overall eat right and exercise.
